Climate Change & Douglas Adams 2015

Posted 1st July 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

My old mate Jack Murrell has hit on a paradox situation on the subject of Climate Change that has come out of Science Fiction
Where the Ruler of the Galaxy Turns out to be a old Man in and his Cat on an Isolated Planet. The Leader only makes decisions on what he can experience for himself with his own eyes
and ears because every thing he is TOLD, He says, is just surmise or hear-say.

In this story the rest of the Galaxy is having similar problems with governance as we are experiencing on Planet Earth.

So all Elected officials are just a distraction put on for show while the Schrodinger like Leader makes all the real decisions.
That’s the Politics in the Milky Way..

In this story Earth is in a forgotten Backwater of the unfashionable Western Spiral Arm, yet somehow the problems of informed leadership appear to be universal!

How can one really tell if the future climate is going crook just by looking out the window in Manapouri ?
It’s all down to the Surmise and hear-say of “Number Crunchers” all our mostly non scientist Leaders can do is make a call based on trust & respect.

The Point was, Universally It’s not just knowledge that keeps Civilization together, it is trust .
But I sense, like Mr Murrell NZ has little trust in the rest of civilization in this debate. Honestly from here it seems like someone else’s hypothetical problem.
