USA at the balancing point 2019

Posted 27th April 2019 to the Dominion Post Wellington NZ

It seems we are at a time in history similar to the Lord of the flies plot
The Democratic Party of the USA Need to decide if they should blow the proverbial conch shell on Donald J Trump and the Republican Party needs to allow the process of the law clear their President from the charges laid against him If the Nation wants to maintain any hope of allowing him to remain a legitimate leader.

Party leaders on both sides are afraid now to do their job because the stakes are so high.
Yet to do nothing means a literal breakdown of law and order.

The Man Children are working themselves into a frenzy as we speak and our only hope is for an adult to step in before
They start clubbing each other with blunt instruments.

Nancy Pelosi, and Mitch McConnell, 18 months of anger and retribution can be an eternity.

Mitch has just told the press he is calling himself the grim reaper  So I don’t think he is a cause for hope.

Center of New Zealand Debate NZGB

Posted 24th April 2019 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

It is interesting to read the debate about the exact centre of New Zealand.
People like these fun facts and they can generate a bit of attraction to visitors.

I recall back in the 1990s a group in Invercargill looked at finding the most inland point in the South Island
Which turned out to be a small hill with a natural Rock bivy on its top next to the Fraser Dam in the hills above Earnscleugh.

The Havoc and Newsboy TV show was even dispatched to go and check it out. But there was a problem with the NZ Geographic Board who did not seem to have the ability to confirm the location.  Even though anyone with a map and a ruler could find it.

Apparently at the time The Geo Board was not really responsible for geography per say but more into ruling on NZ Culture matters.

Maduro is David - Trump is Goliath ?

Posted 16th April 2019 to the New York Times Newspaper NY NY USA

Reading between your lines about socialism in Venezuela one has to admire it’s pure power.

Apparently one small nation can withstand years of pressure from the world’s greatest superpower
and still be intact even with that opposing power bringing all it’s weight to bear in the form of Media Power, Sanctions, Covert Sabotage and financial warfare Venezuela like Cuba still stands regardless.

I can see why The Whitehouse is scared of socialism because to make capitalism work means you have to have an insanely humongous military force to protect it and the ability to print your own money and facts out of nowhere, ironically that makes for one super paranoid country.

It is worth a thought If Bernie Sanders took over with REAL socialists behind him the USA would simply swallow the world with soft power then climate control would be problem number one...  And everything of this crazy time we live in now would look so needlessly stupid in retrospect.

Democracy in the Doldrums 2019

Posted 7th April 2019 to the Otago Daily Times Newspaper Dunedin NZ

History looks back at previous attempts to forge empires out of peoples of different cultures with different perspectives and ways of living with he lure of protection and progress  where eventually every one becomes big happy supportive family.
Sadly after a few years of bad management progressive Ideas are squashed and micromanagement of citizens kicks in and the empire gets unstuck then dog eat dog corruption sets in as the end gets closer.

Has anyone checked on our own progress? I wonder when I hear kiwi voters saying they vote for the party that gives them the most, has our education system not taught them civics ?

Money Buys Loyalty Not Ability In Politics

Posted 31st March 2019 to the Otago Daily Times Newspaper Dunedin NZ

Some American journalists are saying the Anglo American world has reached peak stupid..
It seems that opening the tap to big money in politics has bought us all a terrible problem, the problem of you can buy loyalty or you can buy competence but you cant buy both!

The fact is politicians need REAL skills especially to cope with un expected change the skill to raise money from rich donors is of very little use in the world of rational thought.

The Anglo American political world on both sides of the Atlantic has become fat and lazy. It is so bad that a 20 something  waitress from the Bronx with no political training is running rings around them all.

It is common conversation in the UK, if you randomly pick a person off the street they would have far more ability, flexibility and common sense then any random Tory MP out of Westminster.

Seriously, if you where paying for these people to run you might want a refund !

Terror in the Anthropocene NZ

Posted 20th March 2019 to the Otago Daily Times Newspaper Dunedin NZ

It is tough to look at the Christchurch Terror Attack through the prism of reason one can go down a rabbit hole of many convergent truly terrible mistakes.

One way of seeing where we are at it that our society is adapting to the Anthropocene Era we now live in, we don’t like it and we want to fight it in some form or other. At the moment our most powerful Leaders are fighting it with every thing they got including fear, lies and violence to keep their Diaspora from becoming irrelevant in this new age.

This is not new for humanity but now we do not have the benefit of geographical isolation we once did.
I am afraid reason says we will have to learn from the third world and just work around it and hope for better leaders.

Also get the CIA and FBI a budget again for monitoring ALL bad guys not just politically selected ones !

Maybe feeling some remorse about drone strikes would be nice to show we are not monsters.

US Paranoia Spills over to NZ

Posted 17th March 2019 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

It is very sad that the United States perpetual war on all non Saudi Muslims has spilled over to Australia and New Zealand,
especially effecting those workers who came to to Christchurch to help rebuild the city or generally help to keep our businesses going.

It all seemed so surreal we needed to go to the Invercargill Mosque it see the flowers place there by caring kiwi hands to mark what is a real trauma to our society both here and globally.  If you have had a guts-full Just remember in the age of the smart phone we are all citizens of the Globe and we are all potential citizen journalists.
