Game over Mitch McConnell

Posted 10 March 2019 to the New York Times Newspaper NY NY USA

Mitch McConnell says that the house bill to stop corruption in US Elections is bad because the Democrats will use the votes to win...?
This Statement of bare faced corruption should get Mitch Fired on the spot, He should fall on his sword  and resign .
If ANY Journalist is good with his statement than they should do the same. This must not stand or America will fall because if there is no real law and order any more in the Conservative leadership and Mr un-american un elected Rupert Murdoch rules them like a God .

Capital Gains Transaction Tax NZ

Posted 6th March 2019 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

Your opinion page correspondent Mervin Cave brought up a classic argument about taxation
which flies in the face of reason that seems to equate hard work with wealth.
Clearly that is a joke as a large percentage of our wealthiest people almost always are not doing any useful work but only became rich by being in the right place at the right time with the right people.

Tax is for the less fortunate who through no fault of their own are born into a dog eat dog world and need a form of insurance that is an investment in order & justice and a safety net to protect one from bad luck. That is what Tax is really meant for, not to be leeched on by the greedy & entitled with their hate filled camp followers.

It is wise not to punch downward lest one day you too fall on hard luck and you feel the lash of tongues
nearly all pundits say we are heading into dark economic waters and past luck might not be enough .

Ghost of Trump's Past

Hi Future Donald:  I know you and how you would have turned out with the pressure of inheritance that is a Great Burdon to carry.
I know you just wanted to be loved but all the money brings false friends and fake love which makes you grumpy though by nature you are not a bitter person at heart nor are you full of malice you suffer from the plight of the trust fund kid battling a cruel world. The world that will only love and respect you if you act like a monster. It is so easy to surrender but deep inside there will always be a past voice to guide you... Listen to your former self, the one that makes you do the right thing by accident... You might surprise your current self just how liberating that can be.  The Great History Book beckons.

Who Taxes Who? Capital Gains Debate

Posted 28th February 2019 to the Southland Times Invercargill NZ

I see the discussion of taxing the rich has come up again under the current political conditions
It might pay to keep an eye on the progressive wave that has been building in the USA against the
contempt the exceptionally wealthy is now being discussed broadly thanks to narcissistic Billionaire President from their ranks.

Capital Gains is a form of Transaction Tax that could be used on speculators and con men climbing the social ladder but its also a tool for keeping the property market from crashing.

Will this progressive thinking spill over to New Zealand if the USA gets back to the business of punishing wrong doers instead of rewarding them, who can say, but currently the Thatcher/Reaganite Neo Liberal status quo is looking a lot like a sinking liner.

Billionaires are just the ship’s orchestra.

Federated Mountain Club & the D.O.C

Peter Wilson’s response to the over enthusiasm about Mount Titiroa in Fiordland National Park
exposed the problem with the Heath Robinson way the Department of Conservation has been set up.
The lack of local decision making is dreadful especially for local staff, common sense has flown out the window
and the whole consultation process has tied itself in knots. Quite frankly it is a neglected tangled system that need a razor gang to cut through it all just to get to basic transparency.

There are no figures on the actual numbers of Visitors to Mount Titiroa. Local guiding agents say the numbers are minimal especially if you compare them to landings on Mount Tutoko near Milford Sound.

Something else is at play here and we are all being kept in the dark as usual.
