the Hillman Hunter - Iran's National Car ?

Posted 24th of July 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

Selling to Iran: by A Nicholson

Not many Young People today know what a Hillman Hunter is unless their Granddad had one  but they use to be a Common Car on our Roads from the late 60s to the 80s
July 21st your article ran about selling to Iran and how they still make outdated Peugeot Powered Hillman Hunters there called Khodro Paykans.
I have a couple dead Hillman Hunters at the Manapouri Motor Camp and one day an English Chap came in at started reminiscing about them. Turns out he worked for a Firm called “Pressed Steel”
And designed the Rear Panels on the Hunter (apparently Hillman Got the Side Panel Dyes off of Ford for a bargain).

Years Later He had been asked to take a more modern Car to Iran to see if it could maybe replace the Hunter,  but it turned out because of the Road Conditions and the widely varying altitudes of Roadways the Modern Car cold not perform properly with it’s Modern Carburetion and the Rough Roads made the Plastic Componants Fall off !
Another-wards the Hunter was “overbuilt” but in Iran it needed to be. Ironically over in Africa we would be wise to bring back the Model T,  after all old Henry Ford knew about robust simple design.
I guess It is good to keep in mind that the complex “needs” of our Culture are not universal when we set off to trade.

Greatest Nepalese Sherpa - Snubbed by New Zealand

Posted 18th July to Radio New Zealand National Saturday Morning Program

The Attitude about Sherpas is appalling in NZ as well
When Sir Ed Hillary was getting a part of Mount Cook Named after Him I put in a Submission that We Also Honour Sherpa Tenzing
Which was dispatched to the Nations Media as well as Nepal. It was utterly Ignored here. And Ultimately Declined by the NZGB LINZ board.

Mean While a year later in Nepal they decided they would like to Name two of their Peaks One Hillary and One Tenzing to show their gratitude.

I suppose NZ is embarrassed by Sherpa Tenzing as it is unclear if he stood first on the Top of Everest because Both He and Hillary never would Say.

Geneva Convention for the Poor - New Zealand

Posted 23rd of July 2015 to the Otago Daily Times Newspaper Dunedin NZ

Looking at the way our Politicians are Treating citizens who can’t hold down good paying jobs
It starts to make one think... They have less rights than POWs under the Geneva Convention
If we as a nation deprived captive combatants of things to sustain their lives we would be in trouble
Would we not? Capitalism is a bit like WAR because there are people who get wounded and traumatized
And just plainly DAMAGED.
If you ever have the Misfortune to land outside ones Middle Class Bubble it’s clear there is a lot of suffering about
Especially if People get a little Sick. Yes the System will look after a person if they simply are unable to move , but if you can
Then all support can be withdrawn at any moment unless you can find a way to get a bed at one of Her Majesty's Prisons

John Key is no War Criminal but his Government is starving the Nation to feed Auckland, that Might not be outright Killing People
But wanton Neglect IS also a crime especially when it’s done to hold onto power. Or am I mistaken? Perhaps the Geneva Convention only applies
To German National Socialists of the 1940s? Not modern Corporate Socialists..

Chinese House Buyer Debate NZ of 2015

Posted 15th July 2015 to the Dominion Post Newspaper Wellington NZ

On the Labour Party revisiting China-phobia in Auckland.

I Recall before Roger Douglas New Zealand was pretty proud of it’s self and what it stood for. They use to be VERY certain that this Country  should not be Swamped by any large numbers of any nationality outside our Anglo Imperial Cousins who built this Nation in the First Place..  If  People wanted to live here or buy any property they HAD to fit in the Kiwi Culture or at least pay homage to it.

Since Masters Prebble and Douglas unleashed to Dogs of Capitalism and the disembodied Hand of the Free Market on this country, it appears that the spirit of Godzone NZ has vanished and replaced by a Vortex.

It’s Hard to nail down what The Average Kiwi thinks about Homesoil and Patriotism today.  It’s just a free-for-all anything goes country now Held together by Sports, Scenery and tattered Flagging scraps of History.

Everything is for sale now and nobody can dare stop it!  Roger Douglas should have pointed out this before he was voted into power in the 1980s  Everyone HAS got to adapt or Perish.

If Mr. Andrew Little can turn that around he will simply need to be a Miracle Worker or a Super-Pope!

Austerity Greece & New Zealand - ODT

Posted 14th of July 2015 to the Otago Daily Times Newspaper Dunedin NZ

It seems there is a Time in every great Civilization where the People Turn against each other
The Situation in Greece is very sad, Austerity is going to mean the people on the bottom of the Heap are pushed over the edge
As there is no way they can pay the Debt. New Zealand has the Same Problem with It’s poor or unfortunates they are on WINZ Life support
And we are cutting them down with Austerity too.  Somehow if the System Fails People it’s Their Moral Fault Houses are unavailable and our Jobs can’t pay the Bills
And we should let them perish without a care or even a passing bit of worry that any of us can become invisible if our luck runs out.

I feel Sorry For poor old Charles Darwin, as an Empathic Person he would be mortified  that people call it call it Social Darwinism.

Oddly it is counter to Capitalism to have a Large Market proportion that can’t afford to Consume Goods and fulfill their roll in society.
So what is the Driver Here?

Court of Public Oppinion - Southland Times

Posted 9th July 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ   by A. Nicholson

The Court of Public Opinion is a funny old institution as our learned council for the defense J Murrell of Manapouri has pointed out this week.
Ever since the Southland Times got rid of non-deplumes we writers have had to sign our Literary persona's with their creators names, which gets
kind of confusing  especially in small town Southland where people all know each other, Messages can get a little muddled.

Despite all this it’s all good for society to question and debate... a luxury fewer paid Journalists have these days.
If you want to join properly you need the skills of a scriptwriter a good imagination and a network of contacts and... you get to do it all for free :-)

Today you don’t even have waste classic diversionary debate material either... I give it all to a Non deplume blog spot :)

Dragon's Teeth - Devil's Advocate

Posted 6th of July 2015 to the Fiordland Advocate Newspaper Te Anau NZ

In response to the Devil’s Advocate

Before Global Media was invented, distant War and Disaster never bothered us because we lived in blissful Ignorance.

All the Problems of the Earth are now piped into our lives to where ever we live in the Western World and as allies of the USA we feel directly linked into backlash from the endless damage that is the by-product of complex job of keeping a Superpower Democracy up to scratch In both War and Peace.

No Mistake It’s a healthy thing in any Democracy to hear Arguing or Demonstrations in times of stress because when they stop, that’s “Alarm Bell” time.

As for the People of the Middle East, If they are a danger to NZ it is because their countries have become “unlivable” not just that they have no chance of debate, it’s because they actually need to flee to be able to LIVE.

And it’s a known fact that the World’s big problems are caused by displaced / unwanted people and especially their offspring.

Some call it Sowing Dragon’s Teeth.... Another problem OUR Kiwi children will need to deal with..... Like Poisoned Land Sick Oceans and Bad Air ...

It’s a Sort of Justice for Humanity thing.  Sorry for the inconvenience. *

Religion in NZ State Schools 2015

Posted 6th July 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

Looking at the Religious indoctrination issue that has popped up again in our State Schools in the Media there is one thing I feel should be pointed out,
That is that This State has a Religion as it’s Head of State, our Monarch is The Head of it’s Church, it is a fact so any indoctrination in schools should be High Anglican in Nature
As this Country is in essence  an Anglican Project part of an Anglican Empire founded by King Henry the Eight.

I would say the History of the Anglican Church and it’s objectives are our History and it should be something our children should know about...
Should we forget about the Past All together? As Ben Elton Said “Where all those people Burning Catholics just wasting good matches ?”

So really the point is only High Anglicans have the right to use State Schools for teaching theology because THEY own them...!

Climate Change & Douglas Adams 2015

Posted 1st July 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

My old mate Jack Murrell has hit on a paradox situation on the subject of Climate Change that has come out of Science Fiction
Where the Ruler of the Galaxy Turns out to be a old Man in and his Cat on an Isolated Planet. The Leader only makes decisions on what he can experience for himself with his own eyes
and ears because every thing he is TOLD, He says, is just surmise or hear-say.

In this story the rest of the Galaxy is having similar problems with governance as we are experiencing on Planet Earth.

So all Elected officials are just a distraction put on for show while the Schrodinger like Leader makes all the real decisions.
That’s the Politics in the Milky Way..

In this story Earth is in a forgotten Backwater of the unfashionable Western Spiral Arm, yet somehow the problems of informed leadership appear to be universal!

How can one really tell if the future climate is going crook just by looking out the window in Manapouri ?
It’s all down to the Surmise and hear-say of “Number Crunchers” all our mostly non scientist Leaders can do is make a call based on trust & respect.

The Point was, Universally It’s not just knowledge that keeps Civilization together, it is trust .
But I sense, like Mr Murrell NZ has little trust in the rest of civilization in this debate. Honestly from here it seems like someone else’s hypothetical problem.
