Gallipoli the ANZAC lession impact today

Posted 14th May 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

With the centenary of Gallipoli going on I keep hearing the same statement that all those men in World War One died for no reason.
Perhaps there was no logical objective for all the killing at the time but the result in the peace that followed was a great change for the ordinary People of the World
Especially For all the Countries involved  because the greatest driver to send the young men off to die was the Aristocracy of Church and State
consequentially the Countries of greatest loss decided never again to let leaders of faith & privilege have such power again... and the People’s Century was born.

It’s not been a Easy Road but our modern freedoms are definitely the result of the great tragedy that was the Great War...
As for Gallipoli It certainly highlighted the philosophy to “Quit while your ahead”. And know when your day has passed !

Not all battles are to be won.  Something modern Generals and Leaders should reflect on more often.
