Prison Budget Blowout New Zealand

Posted October 19th 2016 to the Dominion Post Newspaper Wellington NZ

Dom Post:

NZ is a country that in not in a war zone or has great cultural conflict so why on Earth do we have so many people in prison?
Prisons are suppose to be where we put the extremely small fraction of the population who are dangerous to others.
They are not mental hospitals nor are they time-out centers for people who are simply annoying.

The Tax Payer would be less burdened if we had some better way of finding work to keep annoying or unemployable people busy.
But Private enterprise is not going to step up because it is simply someone else's problem.

Our Government has the tools to fix this and they darn well should because the very high rates of incarceration in New Zealand spell out FAILURE in large
unmistakable letters over our whole political system.

It is hard to Fathom... But Texas is more progressive in this area than NZ is.

Stock Market Gitters in Heartland NZ ?

Posted 14th of February 2016 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

Looking at the Stock Market slumping again one has to admit Life is not always fair, it is funny that it is usually people who for the top end of the heap get overlooked
What happens when you sell your farm and you need to reinvent yourself with only a Bag full of Money to live on?
It no laughing matter  no one cares that it’s impossible to find a stable investment portfolio to put all your money in.
You can always buy a nice lifestyle Block in the Southern Lakes Region and Graze Lawn Tractors, tourism is way too seasonal
And darn hard work. Yes you can buy a Big shed to Put your Trophy Boat behind your trophy house for occasional trout chasing for dinner but that’s not as lucrative as it seems.
Even grouching at “poor people” for being lazy “takers” with a pension for finding bad luck seems a fruitless pastime.
These Affluent people are a endangered breed and should be treated with great reverence as they came from a time when hard work was rewarded and they had parents who passed farms on to their Children,
If not, University was free and the State was like a caring thoughtful uncle. Toughen up and She’ll be right worked well then.
Today our investments do all the real earning instead of elbow grease and it somehow it makes people grouchy, maybe because we know from history, time and again it can vanish in a flash. And who do we blame? and how can we toughen up then?

Future USA Leaders - Otago Daily Times

Posted 25th January 2016 to the Otago Daily Times Dunedin New Zealand

It has been said by very Cleaver People that the unfettered Capitalist System we all know and love will come to the end of its tracks at some point
I think it is timely that Socialist Bernie Sanders is a possible hopeful to become the Leader of the Free world because Socialism is the best tool in the toolbox to
Fix all the problems we collectively face today especially in the way of Insecurity over climate, China, Oil, Jobs, Markets, War and Displaced People in unprecedented Biblical numbers.
New Zealand needs a Bernie Sanders too, but if the USA leads the way I think the reckless Capitalist Risk takers that have turned investment in this country into a joke might be in for a short shift.

As for our Prime Minister... If the Auckland Housing Bubble implodes shortly then He should have his bubble popped as well with a vote of no confidence after his off hand comments.
I am sure your economists at Otago University confer on that.

Geneva Convention for the Poor - New Zealand

Posted 23rd of July 2015 to the Otago Daily Times Newspaper Dunedin NZ

Looking at the way our Politicians are Treating citizens who can’t hold down good paying jobs
It starts to make one think... They have less rights than POWs under the Geneva Convention
If we as a nation deprived captive combatants of things to sustain their lives we would be in trouble
Would we not? Capitalism is a bit like WAR because there are people who get wounded and traumatized
And just plainly DAMAGED.
If you ever have the Misfortune to land outside ones Middle Class Bubble it’s clear there is a lot of suffering about
Especially if People get a little Sick. Yes the System will look after a person if they simply are unable to move , but if you can
Then all support can be withdrawn at any moment unless you can find a way to get a bed at one of Her Majesty's Prisons

John Key is no War Criminal but his Government is starving the Nation to feed Auckland, that Might not be outright Killing People
But wanton Neglect IS also a crime especially when it’s done to hold onto power. Or am I mistaken? Perhaps the Geneva Convention only applies
To German National Socialists of the 1940s? Not modern Corporate Socialists..

Euthenasia Debate - Radio NZ 2015

Posted 14th June 2015 to the Radio New Zealand Sunday Program

The Question of Euthanasia is simple, the answer is complicated
Simply it is about the Question over whether the State has control of your Body and Mind

The Answer is YES they do but there is a mess of historical baggage that brought this about

Now we are in the enlightened 21st Century and we are facing down Catastrophic over-population
I Think we might need to change our mindset.  We know now that every Human is a random Genetic Experiment
brought into existence with out consultation,  Into a mostly Narcissistic Society a lot of things can go very wrong.
I think there should be a humane re think about individuals having a planetary exit policy.

Taking into account of course that many people are virtual Robot like workers and are invaluable service the economy.

Rural Angst - Suicide Watch NZ 2015

Posted 15th of June 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

It seems that working the land these days is not as good a lifestyle choice as it once was if anecdotal news correct
It’s hard with the reporting of self administrated euthanasia not available to the general Public but it seems we have an invisible epidemic

Traditionally Farms have been family operations and Families like tribes have workers who fall though the cracks when it comes to state protection against
exploitation  It might be wise to Remember that our Social Welfare System is what we all pay into to prevent suffering from all portions of the population

Rolling the Welfare state back to stone age levels because of a few bad apples really just tortures every one and traps people in untenable social situations and economic exploitation
If you do the maths, every prisoner we lock up for being miserable and hopeless is like the Taxpayer Buying them a 4 bedroom house in Auckland every year they are in jail. So quitting life is like a act of community compassion.

The emotional cost to the Nation is un countable for State sponsored misery  so politicians say please try not to talk about in the media.

I call BS on that.

Southland's Solid Energy Future - Debate 2015

Posted 3rd June 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

Good on David Russell for his opinion on Solid Energy May 30th. I recall saying a word or two to Jack Murrell in this Paper a while back,
Argueing Southland’s Coal Reserves are a strategic reserve best left in the Ground, looks like That’s a good plan now.
The World is a changing too fast now to plan ahead we are living on borrowed Money and Borrowed Time the traditional lines of
Race, Politics and Culture are globally changing into a Divide between the Narcissists and the Empaths, one side say steal from our Children an the other
Says we can ALL have a great life with less greed.  Our Energy needs and our employment Prospects all depend on the outcome of this struggle. It is Clear that Southland and Westland industries are going to be greatly effected by Energy Issues so some sort of contingency plan might be in order that dare I say involves a level of social empathy not seem here since the 1970s !

Joe Bennet - Where are the ANGRY Greenies ?

Posted 19th May 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

Last Week Joe Bennett Mused on the Media and Global Cataclysm
And the smoldering Mess that George W Bush left in Middle East
As well as other topics of Humanities greatest mistakes that threaten to
Block out the proverbial Sun.

Joe should do a list for New Zealand and its impending problems that take the gloss of what was formally known as Godzone.
Doom and Gloom is always entertaining.. The Lack of taxation on Pondsi Scheme that is Auckland property speculation seem to very big now
As a threat to our Society almost as bad as the Geologic Faults and Volcanic Fields that we uneasily stride.

We have dumped all over this Country to be able to keep up with the living standards of the rest of the Western World spoiling our History, Environment and
plus created a sugar coated underclass with no voice and little justice and even less hope.

The Funny thing is where is the Outrage ? If it is all true why are the Green Intellectuals not swearing expletive-deletives and getting SERIOUSLY Angry ?
All I hear is a tisk tisk for pushing us towards a Cataclysm.

It stands to reason Joe is right, it is all a big game.  Kind of like Monopoly that is on crack

I don’t even think our fearless leader John Key wanted that bad to be “seriously” in charge of it all.

It’s just that nobody else really wanted to fit the actual job description in the end!

Responsibilities of the New Zealand State

Posted 9th April 2015 to the Dominion Post Newspaper Wellington NZ

Listening to how our Government has handled the Home Care Contract situation one feels like reminding the Government that
Their primary purpose is to look after all it’s citizens, that is the social contract MPs are signing up to when they become representatives.

As we speak, New Zealanders who have been good honest hard working people are being displaced from housing because they are physically unable to
work hard enough to compete with overseas investors and the children of the wealthy. Now If they have to care for a Mentally or Physically damaged Family member or loved one this could make life totally intolerable!

Might I suggest that if we can not fix our economic system we can at least build care facilities for our Fine Citizens who have never done crime or held any malice
so they do not become displaced because of bad luck and avoid letting them becoming prey to the people we lock up in jails at great expense.

The best way of doing this?? I suggest traditional Villages with subsidized small Cottages with Communal Gardens and Workshops where Skills and Care can be shared. (with the Elderly as well.)

I gather the old State Mental Hospitals where going in that direction before they where scrapped by the free-marketeers.
But in 2015 any intellectual will tell you the free market is ultimately degrading humanity. Totally.

Dominion Post - LED Lighting Breakthrough

Posted 7th of April 2015 to the Dominion Post Newspaper Wellington NZ

This Morning on Radio NZ Kathryn Ryan stumbled across the environmental Black Hole that is Capitalism..
The Wellington City Councils Power Saving LED street lighting has thrown light on the fact that our Modern Capitalist System is fueled by stupid WASTE... And it is literally choking the Planet!

It’s quite clear now we can either waste resources like there is no tomorrow  or go on living
with a functional society that we can hand on to our children.

Our Government HAS to take responsibility to fight for it’s people and not just it’s Corporations.
Massive Energy Saving opportunities should only be positive turning point.

They are literally subsidizing the degradation of Nature if they take away the ratepayers energy saving windfall made by new technology.

There is an expectation that one day in the future there will be a Nuremberg type trial for those committed heinous Crimes against Nature.

So lawmakers beware.

State Housing & John Key's Party

Posted 26th March 2015 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

I seems strange to me that John Key’s Government cant get it’s head around the Idea that they are there to look after the
Human Population on New Zealand.

The State housing Drama shows that they are just tired of looking after People when the could be having fun doing Fancy Window dressing with the Tax Payers Money.

The Crazy thing is Our Wealth as a Nation Comes from the Well-being of all our Population.

Never in the History of the World has it served the greater good to dispossess and neglect a portion of Society. Because always the perpetrators of inhumanity will make EVERYONE  pay for it.

I think Its not the Housing or the Flag that are outdated. It’s the political system in general that is antiquated and cack-handed.
There should be two tiers of Government, one dedicated to Business and one to our human assets!

And in the later House NO Businessmen or Layers need apply.

You don’t have to be an intellectual commentator to state the present Government is clearly unbalanced and inhuman... you simply stop voting if you feel no one respects you.

Southland Times- Cash Politics

Posted January 15th 2014

It was voiced in Tuesdays opinion that ALL our recourses MUST be exploited or we won’t have any money.
This seems to make sense on the surface until one examines the Modern World and how it works.
Money is a by-product of Politics. We in Southland are our own victims as we don’t see that if people are united
Politics will provide what ever they need. If you are Calvinistic and think suffering is good or that we are not worthy
Or maybe that a portion of the population MUST be repressed or you might even have an inner Sarah Palin, Than that is how politics will serve us.

Southland is perhaps still the Richest Province in New Zealand, we don’t need to put the pedal to the metal with exploitation
If it aint broke, don’t fix it or you will make it worse. Just look at all the best places to live in the world: People there demand and politicians
Supply, they don’t tear the country apart, they don’t have to, if they put the Horse before the darn Cart.
