Where did it all go wrong ? - NY Times

Posted 11th Dec 2018 to the New York Times Opinion NY NY USA

In 2018 where More people are out of poverty than at any time in Earth’s history why is the future looking so grim ?
Well it all started when wealth became something that could be hoarded. Civilisation really kicked in when society taxed surplus money but it starts failing when obsessive hoarding creeps in. In the USA after the second world war for example in order to hoard money  lying & cheating other nations and frantic union breaking at home caused a push pull scenario for economic & Political refugees that has now reached critical levels all stockpiling of money can reach undreamed levels. No one really knows what the point of it is, but it has trashed our political justice and support structures for it and turned citizens against each other and Opioids have become the route of escape from this troubled uncertain world.

Just a thought, maybe the surviving Journalists of the World might want to look into this?

Aulis Alen view from Manapouri NZ

Posted 24th October 2018 to the Otago Daily Times Newspaper NZ

On Oct 19th Aulis Alen got to the heat of the meat that is all the World’s Problems in you public opinion:
POPULATION. All the world’s media beating their chest as are all the politicians and none of them can seem to hit the target.
It really is all about humans in Aulis’s case he is very concerned with unwanted humans but I am more concerned with
stupid ones especially in the west where we have cocooned ourselves in a digital Illusion both literally and figuratively.

There really are too many stupid and destructive people eroding the fabric of civilisation and not enough heroes to keep them under control. Our Governments try desperately to legislate against idiots but we all end up suffering from pointless insulting rules and stupid taxes.

The sad thing about overpopulation is nobody asks to be born yet stupidity dictates that we believe punishing unwanted people is the way to fix everything because reality is just too darn intellectual.
Truth is  life is real and money is ethereal meaning authority bought with money is no real authority over life.

Crazy rich people are made out of the same dust as everyone else, they are not magical, also they didn’t get any say about being brought into existence either so technically we can’t blame them for us seeding them power over all human life.

This can all be fixed just don’t wait too long as time is running out.

And don’t be stupid. Stay Real.

New Format Southland Times

Posted 16th May 2018 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

Good luck on your new more eco responsible Newspaper format.. With all the diversions coming from the US capital these days we often forget that we loosing the war to save the health of our planet. We scamper this way and that massaging our identity politics and sanitising our sexuality  forgetting we are all on a cyclical journey where what comes around goes around, has anyone noticed before Roger Douglas Thatcher and Reagan changed our narrative  all our best volunteers such as fire fighters, community project managers and Journalists where born and are not now being replaced.

If we want to preserve our community spirit and our planet it’s small papers like this one around the world that play an important role in the next revolution in the cycle.

Universal Basic Income questions

Posted 17th March 2018 to the Otago Daily Times Newspaper Dunedin NZ

I have seen a few articles on the Idea of replacing all benefits and pensions with a Universal Basic income
as a fix for the cruelty of our economic system on the unlucky and helpless members of our community.
But did you know that conservatives like the Idea as well and it would cost less then the current system and discourage
Hopelessness. And massively  increase the part time workforce, coupled with a Point System where income is decreased for anti social or reckless behaviour  the government will have a direct way to encourage the good and punish the bad.
Which would benefit a decrease in Prison inmates. The money saved on less prisons would practically pay for itself.

However if politics get entwined in the point system things could get very dark so that would need to be managed carefully.
As the power to directly manipulate the population would be easy to abuse.

Future Invercargill: to stay or go ?

Posted 3rd March 2018 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

I read on the front page of this newspaper that old Invercargill may need to be replaced by a stronger city.
I have followed all the past expert opinions  I can find and It is clear that Old Invercargill is simply in the wrong place
for the Anthroposcine era... It would be great to preserve the old city as an open air Museum, perhaps tear the streets up and make canals, heck you even have a Venetian Basilica on Tay Street..   So the question is what would people like a new city centre to be and where should it be placed ? A Shining City on a Hill?

If I recall construction is good for the economy, but not something that one should have to abandon in a short lifespan.

The Great Gwynne Dyer Tradition

Posted 26th Feb 2018 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ

The Southland Times is lucky to have commentary from the great Gwynne Dyer.
Gwynne has so many achievements under his belt, he is a true heavyweight in the Journalistic World.
And he is one of the group of intellectuals  working on stopping human stupidity from destroying the world,
or at least slowing it’s demises down.

He also appears on podcasts talking about what concerned enlightened citizens can do
To help.

It’s nice to know that behind the current political freak-show info-news bot world that there are real people doing something for our future.

Good on you Mr. Dyer
