Where did it all go wrong ? - NY Times

Posted 11th Dec 2018 to the New York Times Opinion NY NY USA

In 2018 where More people are out of poverty than at any time in Earth’s history why is the future looking so grim ?
Well it all started when wealth became something that could be hoarded. Civilisation really kicked in when society taxed surplus money but it starts failing when obsessive hoarding creeps in. In the USA after the second world war for example in order to hoard money  lying & cheating other nations and frantic union breaking at home caused a push pull scenario for economic & Political refugees that has now reached critical levels all stockpiling of money can reach undreamed levels. No one really knows what the point of it is, but it has trashed our political justice and support structures for it and turned citizens against each other and Opioids have become the route of escape from this troubled uncertain world.

Just a thought, maybe the surviving Journalists of the World might want to look into this?

A friendly word to the NZ Government

Posted 10th September 2018 to the Dominion Post Newspaper & Hon Winston Peters

I would like to let my friends in the Government know that there are some really smart Ideas coming out of the Progressives in the USA that could be useful to New Zealand. Government Guaranteed Jobs is one such Idea.
It is UBI with a work focus.

The Idea that People need meaning in their lives is just part of being alive. Prison, Bad Jobs and Work and Income are all toxic to the human spirit and to the nations feeling of togetherness no debate there.

The Government can fix this in many ways but first we need to agree on the focus. And that is without Question bringing skills and purpose.

Our Heritage I think is something most people think is important, be it old technology, Renovation and restoration skills, wildlife conservation, environmental restoration, lost skills once common in NZ or just preserving Kiwiana  would bring back not only a sense of achievement  but more people will learn to be part of our community and not feel like a burden.

It is a myth that all jobs are to sustain the economy there are lots of pointless jobs that produce nothing useful and in many cases harm the environment and clog our highways but worst of all they give little satisfaction.

America has reached peak stupid and is now thinking again and they want life to have a point for a change.

Universal Basic Income questions

Posted 17th March 2018 to the Otago Daily Times Newspaper Dunedin NZ

I have seen a few articles on the Idea of replacing all benefits and pensions with a Universal Basic income
as a fix for the cruelty of our economic system on the unlucky and helpless members of our community.
But did you know that conservatives like the Idea as well and it would cost less then the current system and discourage
Hopelessness. And massively  increase the part time workforce, coupled with a Point System where income is decreased for anti social or reckless behaviour  the government will have a direct way to encourage the good and punish the bad.
Which would benefit a decrease in Prison inmates. The money saved on less prisons would practically pay for itself.

However if politics get entwined in the point system things could get very dark so that would need to be managed carefully.
As the power to directly manipulate the population would be easy to abuse.

Invercargill's Student Strategy NZ

Posted 16th December 2017 to the Southland Times Newspaper Invercargill NZ.

It was great to see Mayor Tim there for the Southland Institute of Technology for the 2017 Graduation Ceremony
At the Stadium. He really is a celebrity Mayor and very entertaining for any function.

Sorry to see after all the Shadbolt zero frees branding the rest of the country has adapted it for other centres
Which means our branding is redundant.

I wanted to say to Mayor Shadbolt that instead of zero rent or fees for students as an incentive perhaps a
Universal Basic Income for students might be a new angle, that way the cities landlords don’t get
Stressed and there could be conditions attached like attendance and aptitude. Also students  should feel
proud to go to their graduation ceremony as I recall we where back in the 1980s.

If a community gives out free education they should feel thanked for it.

New Zealand's Political Ideals 2017

Posted 14th Sep 2017 to the Advocate South Newspaper Te Anau NZ

Manapouri correspondent M Cave has a point about Kiwis on benefits being a sad state of affairs.
But that just small change compared to PRISON which cost dollars like the public putting beneficiaries up in a five star hotels in Auckland.

I recon we have it all wrong going to work and income should be considered a punishment for bad people and a Universal Basic Income should be
Available for nice people or any tax payer who needs it to get started working.

There is little encouragement for anyone under the system we have now and you would know that if you ever have the misfortune to need to visit Work and Income.
And its not enough to stop people from breaking the law to get ahead.

Jails have also replaced Mental Hospital for people who just can not cope.  Obviously or leaders are not that good at looking after our fallen or even doing good business.

Oh after 1984...  I recall our experimental Neo Liberal Government gave up on social responsibilities like Jobs and National Pride... ?

I think that has proved to be a great failure.
